About the pub.
Welcome to the Aurora Colony Pub!
Located halfway between Salem and Portland on old 99E Hwy, it was originally called “The Halfway” Tavern for that very reason. The building dates back to the 1930’s, when the original structure was modified to make the right of way for 99E, when it was re-routed through Aurora. Note the odd diagonal feature of the building as it faces west toward the highway.
Originally home to a grocery store, then a barber shop, followed by a small tavern. You will find the original meat locker door in the middle of the main bar seating area, which is still keeping our kegs and bottles of beer cold. The pub is authentic with its sloping concrete floors, tin roof and old Americana pub atmosphere.
The outdoor patio is a newer addition that welcomes weary antique shoppers and the locals alike for a relaxing place to sit and enjoy on a warm day.
Opal Gusman, Jimmy Berolt, the Crane Family, and Russ and Laurie Newcomer were proprietors before Corey and Janae Barton acquired it in 2015.
Almost everyone who works at the pub has had long connections with the pub and the surrounding community and its loyal patrons. We strive to provide great service, delicious food, and warm hospitality.
Enjoy your visit, thank you for coming in and we hope to see you often. This is our neighborhood meeting place for friends, old and new.
